The reverse design depicts the Hundred-pace Snake (Deinagkistrodon acutus), one of the five most poisonous snakes in Taiwan, which is ranked as one of the Rare and Valuable Species in the Schedule of Protected Species. In the legend of Taiwanese aborigines – The Paiwan and The Rukai – the Hundred-pace Snake is regarded as tutelary god of the aristocratic ancestor. The beautiful patterns of the Snake are widely used for the design of the two People’s totem. The images of the Snake and the ceramic pot shown on this side are two representatives.

The Hundred-pace Snake is gilded in 999.9 gold, increasing the brilliance and value of this coin. The outlines of Taiwan and Mount Yu, the highest mountain in Taiwan, are displayed and viewed within a rhombic latent image when turning the coin slightly to the right and the left respectively.
