The Year 2022 is Ren-yin year of the tiger. The obverse image on the silver medal is based on the freehand painting “Tiger Gaze” along with masterful Chinese calligraphy of the characters for “Yin Tiger” by Professor Au Ho-nien, a great master of the Lingnan painting school. The virtuoso engraving and coinage techniques of Central Mint fully demonstrate charm of the master’s brushwork. |

The reverse design is based on the “Coupled vase with flower-and-bird panels in fen-ts'ai rose enamels, Ch'ien-lung reign (1736-1795), Ch'ing dynasty” from the National Palace Museum collection. The plum blossoms and magpie on the vase auspiciously symbolize “Be safe and sound” and “Be radiant with joy”. (Image source: National Palace Museum OPEN DATA) |
